Children get sick at inconvenient times. The point of a small practice is that when they do, you speak to someone who already knows your child.
Getting a same-day appointment
We reserve appointments each day for children who become sick and need to be seen. If you think your child needs a same-day appointment, please call the office so we can help determine the best next step and find an appointment time when available. Calling earlier in the day gives us the most flexibility, but please call whenever a concern comes up.
What to expect at the visit
Sick visits focus on the specific concern that brought your child in. We'll talk about what has been going on, examine your child, and decide together whether any testing or treatment is needed. When appropriate, testing such as strep, flu, COVID, RSV, or urine testing can be done in the office. Many results are available during the visit, allowing us to discuss the results and next steps before you leave. If additional testing is needed, we can order laboratory testing to be completed at an outside lab. If your child would benefit from seeing a pediatric subspecialist, we can place the appropriate referral and help you determine where to schedule. If medication is needed, a prescription can be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy.
When the office is closed
Belleville Lake Pediatrics is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. An after-hours triage line is available for urgent medical concerns when you are unsure whether your child can safely wait until the office reopens or needs to be evaluated sooner. The after-hours line is not intended for routine medical questions, prescription refills, scheduling, forms, or other concerns that can wait until regular office hours. If your child becomes ill when the office is closed and needs to be evaluated before the next business day, an urgent care may be appropriate. For a medical emergency, including severe difficulty breathing, a seizure, a serious injury, or a fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher in an infant 1 month or younger, seek emergency care or call 911. Do not wait for a callback from the after-hours line in an emergency. If your child is seen at an urgent care or emergency department, please let us know. We can obtain the records, arrange follow-up when needed, and make sure their medical record at Belleville Lake Pediatrics stays up to date.
